Custom Converted White 19 mm Thinsulate Automotive Acoustic Insulation
3M™ Thinsulate Acoustic Insulation gives automotive manufacturers new freedom to specify designs and applications.
3M noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) products provide a range of sound absorption and damping benefits. 3M AU3020 Thinsulate is a non-woven mat with excellent sound absorbing properties for automotive applications, for inside door panels, instrument panels, pillar stuffers, package trays, etc. It is compressible, non-linting, lightweight, and can be easily die-cut. A white polyolefin scrim on one side protects the fibres.
- Quieter cars. 3M Thinsulate provides highly efficient acoustic absorption, particularly in the middle- to high-frequency ranges.
- Lighter cars. 3M Thinsulate products are made from lightweight polyester and polypropylene non-woven fibres.
- Reduced complexity. With 3M Thinsulate, you can work with simple, rectangular pieces. No need for complicated shapes or costly
- Stress-free assembly. 3M NVH Automotive materials are conformable with low memory forces. This enables a stress-free mounting process and integration into larger components.
- Achieve Great Design. Constructed with a polyolefin scrim for cleaner aesthetics and strength during handling and converting processes.
The web is composed of 35% polyester staple fibers, and 65% polypropylene fibers. The polypropylene fibers are extremely fine, producing the high-energy absorption characteristic with the low weight.
The polyester fibers are added to strengthen the web. The white scrim attached to one side is a 100% polypropylene non-woven fabric.

Applications
APPLICATION DESCRIPTION:Reducing NVH in Under Engine Components, Reducing NVH in Under Engine Covers, Reducing NVH in Trunk Liners, Reducing NVH in Fender Liners. Suitable for application in vehicle cabin and luggage compartment interiors, especially vertical surfaces. As the material compresses easily, it is not recommended for applications under the carpet (or other flooring) but its lightweight makes it ideal for other horizontal applications like combining with headliners for example.
APPLICATION NOTES:
Attaching to trim panels is recommended, preferably using ultrasonic or heat spot welding, but adhesives (transfer tapes or hot melt) may also be used. Not recommended for applications where temperatures will be above 120°C. As the fibers are hydrophobic, this material will not absorb water. Therefore the risk of mildew and odors developing are minimal allowing this product to be used in humid or moist conditions.Technical Data
