3M Double-Coated Urethane Foam Tape 4016 is a thick, double-coated open-cell urethane foam tape with a 62 lb. densified kraft paper liner and is ideal for applications such as mounting interior signage and nameplates. Its 62 mil foam provides handling convenience and cushioning. 3M Double-Coated Urethane Foam Tapes are a family of tapes that are conformable foams offering high shear strength and are available with either a high temperature holding acrylic adhesive system or a rubber adhesive system for bonding to various types of surfaces for mounting, joining and holding.

APPLICATION DESCRIPTION:

Bonds surfaces and provides handling convenience and cushioning. The urethane foam tapes are generally ideal for interior applications or for exteriorapplications where the tape will be protected from the environment. The urethane foam is open cell.

APPLICATION NOTES:

Bond strength is dependent upon the amount of adhesive-to-surface contact developed. Firm application pressure helps develop better adhesive contact andimprove bond strength. To obtain optimum adhesion, the bonding surfaces must be clean, dry and wellunified. Typical surface cleaning solvents are isopropyl alcohol* and water (rubbing alcohol) or heptane.Ideal tape application temperature range is 70°F to 100°F (21°C to 38°C). Initial tape application to surfaces at temperatures below 50°F (10°C) is not recommendedbecause the adhesive becomes too firm to adhere readily. However, once properly applied, low temperature holding is generally satisfactory.*Note: Be sure to follow the manufacturer™s precautions and directions for use whenusing solvents.
