Electronic Thermal Management
Electronic Materials
Advances in electronic components―from semiconductors and interconnects to data storage and displays―often begin with breakthroughs in the organic, inorganic, and metallic materials from which these components are fabricated. 3M contributes to improvements in manufacturing and performance by applying its strengths in many of the other building blocks of today’s electronic devices, including fluorochemicals, adhesives, abrasives, membranes, electrodes, and electrolytes.
Thermally Conductive Attachment Tapes
3M™ Thermally Conductive Interface Tape 8926 is a pressure sensitive tape designed to have good converting ability, handing and re-workability through the introduction of a thin PET carrier.
3M tape series 8926 is designed with a soft acrylic polymer and multiple thickness options to allow excellent wet-out or conformability to many surfaces.
8926-02 3M™ Thermally Conductive Interface Tape 8926-02 is a 0.20 mm pressure sensitive tape.
8926-025 3M™ Thermally Conductive Interface Tape 8926-025 is a 0.25 mm pressure sensitive tape.
8926-05 3M™ Thermally Conductive Interface Tape 8926-05 is a 0.5 mm pressure sensitive tape.
Acrylic Thermally Conductive Gap Pad Materials
3M™ Thermally Conductive Acrylic Interface Pad 5590H is a soft acrylic elastomer based interface pad. It has high thermal conductivity, good electrical insulation properties and is ideally suited for applications that require non-silicone properties.
5590H (5590H-05; 5590H-10; 5590H-15)
Additional Information
Because of its softness, Interface Pad 5590H can decrease the load to integrated circuit chips during compression, and have good tack to many surfaces. These properties lead to a high performance non-silicone based thermal pad. Interface Pad 5590H is a higher thermal conductivity and somewhat firmer acrylic thermal pad, versus Interface Pad 5589H.
